Wonderland
My tape Wonderland was an album made especially for children. It has traditional songs, some with a slight variation or new lyrics added. It has narrations of original stories written by me. It also has several original songs written by me.
The music is 'fun'. Trevor Fagan was such a dynamo in the studio. He and Gus Burton played all the instruments.
My daughter Charity made her recording debut, at the age of 4, on this album. Several children from the glee club of a local school helped out as well. What fun it was to see all these young ones in the studio.
I really think this album should have gone far. Every child that has a copy has really enjoyed it. I am proud to have been a part in the making of it. And I defy anyone to listen to the lullaby (which I wrote for Harry when he was a baby- Charity enjoyed Coat of Many Colours) and not picture a muppet. I am sure he was channeliing Elmo. :-)
This tape was the result of several businesses in Conception Bay South providing funds for the production of the tape. Rainbow Recording Studios provided a reduced rate, and the Trevor Fagan and Gus Burton gave freely of their time.
It was an album in which the concept was to raise money for the Janeway Children's Hospital in St. John's, Newfoundland. It was not to be a tearjerker, but a tape that children could enjoy. I would like to see this album reach its full potential.
